About Waldan Gardens
A mix of second and third generation family members make up Waldan’s management team, continuing more than 50 years of growing tradition within Canada.
Waldan Gardens was constructed in 1999. Built on a foundation of quality, consistency, and efficiency, Waldan Garden’s facility is an industry benchmark producing quality plants year round, and they have grown to 8 acres to meet the increasing demand of customers.
Year round Kalanchoe and Calandiva production is featured alongside seasonal specialties such as Exacum, Hydrangea, Gerbera, Lisianthus, Hanging Baskets and Poinsettia’s that are introduced throughout the year. Waldan Gardens serves the wholesale floral supply chain with potted plants for dish garden production, interiorscapers, and retail distribution within Florist, Grocers, Garden Centers, and Super Centers. Their plants reach consumers across Canada and the USA, thanks to the 700 plus retailers serviced by strong wholesale partners providing marketing and logistical support.
The Petals and Plates Experience
Petals and Plates is a series of flower-focused farm dinners that highlight Canadian flower growers and their importance in our agricultural landscape. By combining local food, beer and wine, local floral designers and chefs, these dinners are an exciting, must-attend celebration of the diverse bounty that our local communities have to offer.
Upon arrival, guests will be treated to a cocktail and appetizer hour, including live music. This will be followed by a guided tour of the greenhouse facilities by the owners, who will provide unique insight into what it’s like to be a potted flower grower. Following the tours, guests will be seated at a beautifully decorated 100-seat harvest table, and treated to an expertly crafted 4-course meal, using locally sourced ingredients to bring world class dishes to life. Enjoy live instrumentals while you eat, drink, and chat with fellow flower lovers around you. The night will conclude around 8:30-9pm, and you’ll receive a take home goodie bag and a floral gift from the grower.
There is no strict dress code, but guests are invited to dress “casual dressy”. This event is being held inside of an active greenhouse and temperatures should be fairly comfortable, but it is suggested guests bring a sweater or jacket as the temperatures can drop after sunset. Comfortable walking shoes are also recommended as each dinner includes a walking tour of the greenhouse that involves 20-30 minutes of slow paced walking.
